I bought the above Polo shirt at Old Navy last weekend, but I got it home and decided that I didn’t like it very much. I don’t think that the wide stripes are very flattering, although the colors don’t seem to look all that bad on me. The sleeves are too short, though, in my opinion, and I’m not so comfortable with that. But when I bought it, I thought that I would deviate from my normal purchases and try something brighter and different. I’d *really* like to return it. My husband, on the other hand, *loves* this shirt on me! He says that it’s really cute. Well, we’ve been “discussing” this matter for the past week, LOL! :) He thought that it would be fun to post a picture on my blog and see what *you* guys think ~ whether you agree with him or with me.

So … just for kicks, could you please tell me your opinion? Should this shirt stay or go? Please be *completely* honest ~ I want to know your *true* thoughts. Thanks so much! (P.S. My husband and I have set up a little wager for this “contest” just for fun, based on which one of us wins ~ but I’m not at liberty to tell you the details just yet.) :D

I think that it’s time for another installment of the “Jensen family update.” :) I enjoy writing a summary from time to time ~ it gives me a chance to share our lives with you and to also take a step back and reflect upon everything. In case you don’t have time to read this entire blog entry, however (it’s kind of long ~ I apologize!), then just know that we’re anxiously anticipating our upcoming Indiana vacation and have a *zillion* things to get done beforehand (which is keeping us *extremely* busy!). And we’re trying to enjoy summertime as much as possible. And now, if you’d like to read more details …

Saturday night, we enjoyed a *fantastic* dinner at our local cafe. I had *delicious* chicken quesadillas with sour cream and salsa for dipping; my husband ordered the nasty fish. LOL! :) I ate way too much … I was completely stuffed! Too cool that they’re now offering dinners on Saturday nights as well as on Fridays. Anyway, on our way out, we noticed a bunch of cars parked along the river’s edge (here in our town, that’s called “the landing”). My husband mentioned something about it to one of our town’s volunteer firefighters, who was having dinner with his wife at one of the cafe’s outside tables. We thought that maybe the cars were parked there due to a cleanup effort (every so often, local people volunteer to help clean up and beautify various areas of our town). And he replied, “Oh, no ~ those are just people going down to the beach.”

Beach? Huh? Our town has a beach?

So we gathered Lucas and Meredith and took a short walk down by the railroad tracks, toward the river. And sure enough, there was a little hidden path. We cut through some trees, and all of the sudden … there it was.

Sand. Rocks. Tide. Boats. People fishing. Children playing in the water. Everything “beachy” that you could possibly think of. We’ve lived here for what, almost four years ~ and all this time, we had *no* clue that our town had an honest-to-goodness beach!

It’s pretty rocky, and I actually cut the bottom of my right foot on something. Ouch. But I wasn’t wearing the right shoes. We heard that if you walk a little farther away from the cove, it gets super sandy and hardly rocky at all. Evidently, a ways down there’s a nice gazebo where you can spot bald eagles from time to time! People go camping there all the time, too. The view of the Hudson River is *really* gorgeous. Boats going by, people fishing … and Lucas *loves* picking up rocks and throwing them into the water! :)

I cannot *wait* to take the kids there again and relax in the sand. This means that we can buy beach toys, too! :) And of course, one of the *first* things that entered my mind when we found the beach? Photo opportunities! LOL! :) Shortly, I’ll be adding a Hudson River tidal chart to my blog sidebar. :)

My sweet husband watched Lucas and Meredith yesterday while I spent the entire day clothes shopping and getting my hair cut and highlighted. I had an absolute blast ~ a much-needed break. I’d forgotten how easy shopping can be when you’re by yourself! :) I could quickly zip in and out of stores, not having to worry about getting the kids out of their car seats repeatedly and navigating with a bulky stroller. As I left our house, though, I started crying because I missed them *so* much. But … once I started shopping, I had *lots* of fun! LOL! :) And you’d be proud of me … I only called my husband twice to check in on everyone. :)

I had a somewhat negative experience at the farmer’s market this morning. (Not ours ~ the next town over.) Every single person who I encountered ~ with the exception of the super nice lady selling handmade goat’s milk soaps ~ made fun of Meredith’s pink head wrap. This one. I simply cannot get over how *bold* complete strangers can be with some of their comments! Do some people just not think before speaking?

Would you like to see how my day’s going so far? :) I’m participating in Shannon’s “Photo Bloggy Days,” and I’ve created a Flickr set here. I thought that would be easier than uploading every single picture to a blog entry. What are you guys up to today? Hope you enjoy it, whatever you end up doing!

I just *have* to share this video that I found this morning: “The Impotence of Proofreading.” Absolutely hysterical! You editor, proofreader, writer, teacher, grammarian, language types, etc. will *love* it. I was totally rolling with laughter.

I was *so* looking forward to hanging out with Carol today, but unfortunately I just don’t feel all that great. My period arrived on Sunday (what a nice anniversary present!), and so did a nasty stomachache that kept me up for quite a while last night. :( It could’ve happened because I ate like *crap* yesterday ~ but I’m also achy, moody, blah … you get the picture. Hopefully Carol doesn’t think that I’m a flake and will want to reschedule for sometime next week. I always feel *so* badly when fun get-togethers are cancelled. :( In happier news, though … Meredith slept from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m.! Fantastic!

We have *two* good reasons to celebrate today! Not only is it Father’s Day ~ Jeff’s very first one with Meredith ~ but it ’s also our seventh wedding anniversary! Pretty cool that both special occasions fell on the same day! :)

Out of all the anniversaries that we’ve celebrated over the years, this one has probably been the most low-key (which is a good thing, since we’re both pretty tired!). Jeff’s parents left early this morning (how strangely quiet our house feels now!), and I picked up some breakfast at our local cafe. Then, I took Lucas and Meredith down to our playground for a while ~ and pretty much melted into a pool of sweat when I got back! :( We hung out here at home, watered our new flowers, snuggled with Ookie and Merry Bear, had a light dinner, and watched “Night at the Museum.” (Wonderful, excellent movie!)

We also exchanged gifts. Going along with the copper theme, I gave Jeff a copper relaxation fountain for his desk and a digital coin sorter (hey, it takes copper pennies ~ creative, huh?). :) Jeff gave me a beautiful copper watering can and a promise to watch both children so that I can go shopping for a bunch of new clothes (i.e., wool socks!). :) And for Father’s Day, he received the new “Star Wars” book, two Mercer Mayer books (Lucas *loves* those!), and a book from Meredith about fathers and daughters. I’d intended to bake him a carrot cake, too, but we’re both full from eating so much yummy food this past week. Maybe another time!

So, seven years ago today ~ at this very moment ~ we were probably leaving our reception after dancing the night away and heading to our hotel to celebrate our wedding night. :) I can’t *believe* that seven years have passed by *so* quickly. I feel *extremely* grateful for all of the amazing experiences that Jeff and I have been able to share together over the years. And I know that we’ll be making so many more incredible memories together in the future! Jeff is a terrific husband and father.

We did some celebrating yesterday, too. Our friend Jeannie ~ the daughter of two of Jeff’s coworkers ~ graduates from high school on Friday, and her graduation party was yesterday afternoon. The cookies and berry trifle that I made couldn’t have turned out any better (I think that they both were a hit!). Lucas made friends with a six-year-old named Victoria, and they both were sad to leave when the party was over. Meredith got pretty warm in the sunshine ~ and a little overwhelmed by the commotion and unfamiliar faces ~ so I took her inside to nurse for a while, and she was just fine after that. I took quite a few pictures. I am *so* excited for Jeannie. Jeff and I were talking about how we met most of our close friends in college. A world of new friendships and experiences is just waiting for her!

Now, since both of our children are sound asleep, I’m going to turn in, as well! Sleep tight! And Sweetie, here’s to seven more years ~ and many, many more past that! :)
