I always wanted to become a journalist. But during my senior year of college, I applied to IU’s graduate program for French ~ thinking that perhaps a career as a French teacher might possibly be in the cards for me. I wanted to see whether I could obtain a Master’s degree, but unfortunately the only reason why I wasn’t accepted to the program was because I hadn’t spent enough time studying abroad in France. :( I really do think, however, that my career path worked out for the best. Journalism is such a flexible field, and I really do think that I was meant to be in a journalism career. Still, sometimes I think about whether I might want to pursue a Master’s degree someday.
Saint Xavier University, located in Chicago, IL, has an interesting Master’s degree program: Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction. It’s designed for teachers to enhance their professional skills, and you can find more information about the MS Curriculum on their website. The courses for this degree explore broad topics such as literacy, diversity, integration of technology, and an interdisciplinary perspective in education. What’s more, there are flexible class schedules so that busy professionals can achieve their educational and professional goals when it’s most convenient for them. Saint Xavier’s School of Education is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
If you would like more information about this online Master’s degree program, you can visit their website or call 1-866-319-8966. You can even apply online. Saint Xavier also offers an MS degree in nursing/clinical nurse leader and an MBA in service management.
It would be *so* much fun to rent a convertible one day this summer, when the weather gets warm, and go for a joy ride. By myself. I wouldn’t have to go far, even. Maybe I could get Jeff to watch the kids for the greater part of the day, and I could go run some errands and do some fun things by myself. Maybe shop for some new spring/summer clothes, grab a coffee at one of my favorite cafes (and sit and linger over it!), drive around to somewhere I haven’t explored yet and take lots of pictures, etc. I have no idea how expensive it would be ~ probably not as much as renting a Ferrari or buying some Ferrari parts, LOL! :) I think that it would be a nice way to treat myself and to enjoy warm weather (let’s hope that it gets here soon and STAYS for a while!). I’ve *always* longed for a convertible. I hope to own one someday. It has been a lifelong dream. :) I don’t know that I’ve ever ridden in one, either, aside from when my dad let me drive his Mazda Miata (stick shift ~ I didn’t do too badly!). Ahh, I need to make a list of things that I would like to do this summer!
I’m so glad that March is here. Even though our weather is still a bit chilly and the wind is whipping through the trees, I’m having lots of fun daydreaming about little trips we could take this summer. Our big summer vacation, though, will be to visit our families in Indiana at the end of July! It feels good to have nailed down a date. Jeff’s 15-year high school reunion is July 24th, so we’re going to work around that. Lots of planning to do! We might check into a travel insurance quote, too, because you can never be too careful when you’re traveling. I can’t *wait* to see our families and hopefully lots of friends, too. I think that we’ll be spending about two weeks out there. Yay! :)
My husband is really good about working out. (I wish that I could say the same thing for myself!) Anyway, we just purchased an awesome flat-screen TV for our basement so that we can watch TV in style while we’re using the elliptical machine. It’s connected to a tv stand so that we can turn the TV any way we want for good visibility. It’s so nice being able to watch TV while exercising ~ really helps take your mind off the pain (LOL!) and make the process go faster. Plus, I can also watch TV down there while I’m waiting on the laundry to finish! Speaking of that … OMG, we have a ton of laundry to catch up on. I’m sure that part of my day will be spent washing clothes, folding them, and putting them away. Oh, how exciting.
It’s supposed to be really nice outside this weekend. Rainy, but it’ll wash away all of the nasty snow on the ground! :) Lucas is into learning about shadows lately, and I’m thinking that today or tomorrow I’ll take the kids outside for a nice walk. And maybe we can use some chalk to trace around their shadows, then come back later to see how the sun and their shadows have changed. (Hmm, better invest in some cheap term life insurance since we’ll be walking along our road, LOL! Just kidding!) It’s a challenge going walking with the kids sometimes because Lucas is so fast ~ whereas Meredith wants to inspect every single thing she comes across. :) Lucas is so curious and inquisitive these days. I love that. Some questions he has asked me recently: “Did God make Little Beast, too?” (Little Beast is our cat.) And, “Why do I go to preschool only on Tuesdays and Thursdays?” He has had tons of other good questions, but I can’t think of all of them right now. I’m just really super excited about the promise of good weather this weekend. I am so freaking done with winter!!!
