Since we became parents in 2005, we’ve done holiday photo cards for Christmas. I think it’s an awesome tradition and a wonderful way to show how much our children have grown during the years. Also, one day I plan to put all of our holiday cards into a scrapbook for our children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to see someday. I’m looking forward this year to figuring out what outfits we’ll wear and setting up the photo. It’s next to impossible to get both children to look at the camera and smile, though, so I’m sure that our photo session will take half a day! LOL! :) Do you have any idea what you’ll be doing for your holiday cards this year?
My online friend Hannah has talked several times about vacationing in Destin, FL, and finding some cool destin resorts. I think that sounds like so much fun. My great aunt lives in Florida, and it would be awesome to visit her (in Fort Myers) and of course take the kids to Disney World. I’m thinking that’ll be better when they’re a bit older, though, and can really appreciate it (particularly Meredith ~ she’s still two). I’ve only been to Florida once, and that was in 1986, I believe, when we went to Disney World and St. Augustine.
… but I’m a total office supply junkie. I love walking into Staples and seeing all of the PAPER! LOL! :) Sometimes I’m tempted to buy some computer stationery for writing letters to friends, but then I remind myself that I really don’t need it. I’m a sucker for the pen aisle, too. Our pens are always disappearing, thanks to the kiddos. The Post-Its are super cute, too! So many different shapes and colors! I love back-to-school shopping, although I’m sure in the future with two children, it will get expensive!
I’ve been reading in Shanny’s blog about how the iPhone has a barcode scanner ~ like, when you go to the grocery store, you can just scan your iPhone instead of digging out the discount card. That is *so* freaking cool. Makes me want an iPhone, but aren’t they like $80 a month? We just can’t afford that. :( What are some of your favorite iPhone applications? We did away with our land-line phone and instead use VOIP ~ voice over IP. It saves quite a bit of money. But I think that it would be nice to have a main cell phone that we could use … and I think that if I had an iPhone, I would definitely use it! :)
It’s really such a small world. I found out today, when I had a regular doctor’s appointment, that two of the employees there are related to the kids’ preschool teacher! So neat! I told them how lucky they are to have so much family nearby. We only get to see our families a few times a year. :( Anyway, maybe these nice ladies can help me get some free insurance quotes! LOL! :) Then, on the playground today, I met a mom whose daughter is in the *morning* preschool class (four-year-olds). We will see her in November for a preschool birthday party, too! I’m so happy to have made a new mom friend!
I really enjoy Facebook’s live chat feature. Problem is, I just don’t have much time to chat online anymore these days, with running after two kiddos! The other day, I saw that my mom was online ~ and I sent her a quick message that said, “I love you!” She didn’t know how to respond to the chat, but that’s OK ~ I just wanted to tell her. :) Do you chat much over Facebook? I really enjoy Facebook (especially Bejeweled Blitz!), but I try not to be on it *too* much during the day, you know? I think that I’ll restrict myself to just one status update each day, LOL! :)
We have a good friend who is originally from North Carolina, and she and her husband hope to move back there sometime soon. Her husband is currently looking for jobs in North Carolina. I should tell her about Blue Cross Blue Shield NC ~ something to consider for the future if they do move. My inlaws rave about the Outer Banks. I’d like to see that sometime. The only time that I’ve been to North Carolina was when my parents and I traveled to Gatlinburg, TN, and drove over to Cherokee, NC. I want to see more than that, though! :)
Our ceramic kitchen tile floor is seriously annoying me. It gets so freaking dirty so quickly, and it’s a total pain to clean. Basically, I have to get down on my hands and knees and scrub each tile. We do have a steam cleaner, but it doesn’t work very well. I’m considering buying a Lady Bug steam cleaner ~ I’ve heard good things. What do you use to clean your tile floors? Anything would be better than the one we have! *sigh* I hope to get the kitchen tile floor really clean before Meredith’s birthday party on Halloween!
One of my fears when I was pregnant both times was our children not positioning themselves head down right before birth. I was scared about the potential for a breech birth ~ “breeches,” I guess you’d call it! LOL! :) I feel so relieved that both Lucas and Meredith went to the head-down position several weeks before their due dates. And the thought of having a C-section was another huge worry for me. What were some of your pregnancy fears?
Several weeks ago when picking up our weekly CSA share, I drove over a rock that I thought was small enough to just drive over with no problem. Wrong. :( It tore off a shield on the underside of my Toyota Matrix, causing it to drag and make a terrible noise. So embarrassing. :( Anyway, I took it to the Toyota dealership near us, and they were great. I worried about keeping the kids occupied for almost two hours while the car was being serviced, but thank goodness there was an awesome play area! This dealership is wonderful. While they don’t sellĀ Ferrari parts or anything, everyone was *so* freaking nice to us and very professional. I got the shield fixed, the car inspected, and the oil changed. It runs *so* much better now.
