Archive for February, 2010

My husband is allergic to basically everything. He sneezes and has a runny nose throughout most of the year. And it looks like, unfortunately, our son may be following suit with allergies. We know that he’s allergic to Grandma and Grandpa’s dog, although we’re not certain whether he’s allergic to *all* dogs.

Having allergies can make it difficult to sleep at night ~ but not if you have healthy pillows. Make sure to check out the above video from “The Today Show.” And they don’t just help with allergies ~ they’re germ-fighting pillows. They have a “bio filter” that filters out lots of bad stuff.

I’m quite a germaphobe, to be honest. I’m better than I used to be, now that I’m taking anxiety medication that really works. But sometimes when you travel and stay in hotels, who knows how clean the pillows really are? You can take these healthy pillows with you for *lots* more peace of mind.

I would love to replace all the pillows in our home with these healthy pillows. You sure can’t put a price on good health!

I have some freelance work to get done this week. It’s a blessing, but wow, I’m also really busy! I wish that I had some sort of scanning software that would do the work for me! LOL! :) Just kidding. How does your upcoming week look? I’m very excited about taking the kids somewhere fun, though, during winter break. Maybe to the Ben & Jerry’s ice cream factory over in Vermont. I don’t think that’s too far away from us. They would love to see ice cream being made (and, of course, enjoy some cones!). That’ll be a nice break. I want to create some fun memories for the kids this week.

Meredith just did the *sweetest* thing. Lucas is taking a nap, but he fell asleep without a pillow ~ so Meredith lifted up his head and put one underneath him. Aww! Speaking of sleeping, don’t you hate waking up in the morning with sheet marks on your face, from your pillow? LOL! :) I don’t know whether wrinkle eye creams would take those out or not! Too funny. I’ve been waking up with a few of those lately. I’m glad Luke is getting some rest; he stayed up with me way too late last night watching the Olympics.

I’ve been feeling achy lately. Maybe I need to take some kind of joint supplement? Or maybe it’s just because I haven’t been sleeping very well the past few nights. I hope to get to bed early tonight. It’s winter break for the kids, so aren’t you supposed to catch up on sleep during “vacation”? :) All I want to do is take two Tylenol PM and just conk out for the entire night. I’ve noticed that sometimes when I bend down in a certain way, my left knee hurts ~ probably from an old injury when I slipped on some black ice and had a *nasty* fall at my apartment in Indy. Ugh. :(

I’m not really sure what ephedra diet pills are, but I swear ~ I’m considering taking some! I’m still weighing in the low 200s and can’t seem to lose weight. I don’t feel like I’m eating badly; I think that I just need to exercise. Here lately, I’ve been feeling so achy and totally lacking in energy. I don’t like that. I just can’t wait until the weather gets warm and we can do things OUTSIDE! That will help. Today’s weather, while cold, actually hasn’t been so bad, though. At least the sun is shining!

I am *totally* dragging today. Even the very best face cream won’t help me look awake! LOL! :) I didn’t sleep well last night because I just couldn’t turn off my brain. Plus, I went to bed late because of watching the Olympics. Then, Meredith woke up every single time I *did* manage to fall asleep. At one point, both kids climbed into bed with me ~ which made for a very *unrestful* night’s sleep. I hope to get some better sleep tonight.

Watching the Olympics is making me feel *so* out of shape. Lots of the female mogul skiers who are around my height (5′6″) weigh about 130 pounds, whereas I weigh in the 200s! Not good. I wish that I could get rid of stomach fat that has accumulated around my midsection, and I know that’s one of the most dangerous types of fat. I’m actually thinking about only drinking water during Lent, and that could help me lose some weight. And of course, I need to exercise more. But wow ~ those athletes are totally at the top of their game! Just amazing!

My printer died. :( We do have a very nice printer in our basement, though, that’s attached to our home server. Really, I’d like to bring that printer upstairs ~ because that’s where we do the most printing! It’s really super annoying having to print something from my computer in the bonus room, go downstairs to retrieve it, then come upstairs again. Also, if it happens to be out of paper, that’s another trip! And if we have to use Flexo ink cleaner, we have to go down to the basement yet again … or if a document prints out wrong, that’s another trip to the basement. *sigh* Sometimes it’s difficult being married to your own computer technician! LOL! :) Anyway, I guess I should just be grateful that we have a nice printer/scanner/copier to use at all.

I am *so* glad that we checked into the cost of water softeners when we were building our house. I remember the first load of laundry that we ever did … it left reddish-brown stains in the washer! :( We didn’t do any more loads until we purchased a water softener, and it was a great decision. (We have well water.) Our water is awesome … we drink out of the tap. It tastes great and doesn’t have any funny smells or tastes. Had to dig down *really* deep for our well, but … it was worth it. Some other people in our area have commented that their water is also good. I guess we’re lucky!
