I just ate a ham-and-cheese sandwich. Why is that huge news? Because the last time that I ate one (my freshman year of college), I came down with the stomach flu shortly thereafter ~ and I haven’t been able to eat a ham-and-cheese sandwich since. It’s a psychological thing. (Those of you who know about my anxiety disorder probably aren’t surprised!) But I actually thought that ham sounded good today for lunch, and I decided it was time to get over that silly fear. I know that Jeff likes ham, so that’s why I bought some at the store. I *never* buy it, but I figured that he might enjoy something different for a change. Anyway … yay me! :)
I’m enjoying some quiet “me time” this morning while Jeff and the kids are at church, but they’re due home very soon. Last night, Jeff washed the floor in our bonus room and straightened up some of the kids’ toys, so I continued his cleaning mission today by completely rearranging things and getting the room organized. I put away the toys that Lucas and Meredith don’t play with much anymore, and I dusted everything. I also cleared off our computer desks (nothing frustrates me more than a messy work space!). Now, all that’s left is to wash the windows and vacuum the floor. It looks super in here. Jeff’s parents will more than likely be sleeping in our bonus room when they come to visit for Meredith’s second birthday, so I want everything to look great. We spend most of our time up here, too, and it gets messy fast. :(
I scheduled a Halloween portrait session for Luke and Meri on Wednesday. So excited about that! They have adorable Halloween outfits to wear courtesy of my parents (oh, I can’t *wait* for you to see Meri’s new Halloween dress!). Meredith has actually never had her picture taken professionally, believe it or not. Plus, her birthday is on Halloween, so it’s a *very* special time for all of us. It’ll be interesting to see how the photographer handles two rambunctious toddlers. I hope that they stand still long enough for a good photo! But hey, if it doesn’t work out, then I can always try to “stage” a photo here at home.
I’m also excited because a lady is coming on Friday to tune our new piano! It belonged to my grandparents and is *extremely* special to me. Some of the keys don’t play, and I’m not sure why ~ but hopefully the piano tuner can fix that. I’m curious to see exactly how out of tune the piano is, although it doesn’t sound bad to me. A piano teacher friend of mine advised us to let the piano “rest” for a while and get used to its new environment since it was moved all the way here from Indiana (back in June), so that’s why we waited a while before having the tuning done. I hadn’t touched a piano in years, and it’s *so* wonderful to now have music in our home!

I have the piano that I took lessons on as a kid. The sad thing is that I don’t play anymore. I was *very* musical growing up. Played piano, violin (to a very high standard) the flute, Descant/Tenor & bass recorder, guitar, organ, you name it, I played it. But now, it feels like that part of me inside that used to express itself through music is broken somehow. I can still tootle out the odd tune on the piano, and swizz some old melodies on the violin, but I havent really touched them in years. Funny that. Plus we won’t be able to take the piano with us when we move, so I suppose there’s no point getting back into it now. Sigh. God what a depressing comment. Hope I dont drive your other commenters away with my drivel :)
It must have been a ham-and-cheese sandwich kind of day. That is what we had for lunch too. We did grilled ham-and-cheese. It was yummy! I would absoluely love to have a piano in our house! What fun!
I had pastarmi for lunch. Yummy. Ham and cheese grilled with a pickle sounds good. I cleaned today as well. Our laundry room smelled bad. I’m not sure why. I mopped the floors and cleaned the boys’ bathroom. (ew) Then we went to the store because we are a glutton for punishment. I came home burned dinner and painted my nails. It was a full day!
It’s been such a great day. I wish it could last. ; ) Tomorrow starts the daily shuffle. I hope you are enjoying Blue. We’re watching Max and Ruby for 15 more minutes. I’ve had enough of wacked out cartoons for one weekend!
It seems that everyone is reporting what they had for lunch today so I don’t want to be left out: I had a turkey club with chips at the gym! :-)
Anyway, quick question, what does Jeff use to wash the floor with? I’m still trying to figure out how to clean my laminate wood floor with in my office. The dog keeps leaving slobber smears all over it! Oh, smears and tumbleweeds!
I’m guessing that your piano has a few broken strings in it. Those lucky kids of yours–my nephew wants one so bad that he builds pianos with his blocks and then “plays” them. It is apparently hysterical to see!
This is such an “OMG, me too!” post for me, Lisanne. Our second or third year of college, Matt and I came back from CO and I got sick after eating a ham & cheese sandwich! Matt had already gotten sick, but it just hadn’t hit me yet, and we know it was nothing to do with the sandwich, but it was a *long* time before I could eat ham and cheese anything!
I also inherited my grandma’s piano when she passed away the fall before Tabby was born. It now sits in our living room awaiting a tune-up! Though I play it, even if it is a weee bit off-key. It is such an amazing thing to have something that connects you with your grandparents like that.
Enjoy your me time!
I feel the same way about English Muffins. Made me sick once and I won’t eat them now!
Also, how funny…I just called today and made an appt. for a piano tuner to come tune our piano. My oldest has started taking lessons!
Hey Lisanne, that’s great that you were able to get over your ham sandwich fear! Our girls both love ham so it’s one of our standard meals around here (whether I like it or not, lol).
Good luck tomorrow taking the kids for pics!! Hey, I’m taking the girls on Monday for fall pics, too! Great minds must think alike!
