My sense of time is completely screwed up because of the holidays. Today is Friday, right? It seems more like a Sunday night or something. I keep having to check the calendar or the date on my computer. The days surrounding Christmas and New Year’s almost seem like a blur.

I definitely know, however, that today is a very special day for some good friends of ours! Shannon and Jeremy are celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary! Ten years! That is quite a milestone. I vividly remember the day when Shannon called me at my apartment in Indianapolis and told me that she had just gotten engaged. The actual weekend of their wedding was quite a mess, though, because of the weather. A huge snow/ice storm came through our hometown, and I wasn’t able to attend their wedding (even though I was the maid of honor). Everything was on “lockdown” because of a snow emergency, and I couldn’t even see my car because it was buried under so much snow. I missed their rehearsal and rehearsal dinner, too. I sat around the entire weekend and moped, cried, felt sad, etc. Didn’t get to wear my pretty navy-blue bridesmaid dress, but worst of all I didn’t get to see my best friend get married. But the weather couldn’t stop my happiness or excitement for Shannon and Jeremy. And 10 years later, those wishes still hold true. They now have a wonderful home in Pennsylvania and a beautiful daughter. I’m excited to see what the next 10 years have in store for them, and I hope that it’ll be filled with nothing but amazing, joyous things! Know that we’re thinking about you guys today on your special day and sending lots of love!

P.S. ~ here’s an update on the health front. We thought that Lucas was starting to feel better, but this afternoon after drinking a small amount of milk and taking a few bites of an apple, he went right over to the living room couch and laid down. Poor guy. He’s still there and won’t eat/drink much. Meredith is doing great and going strong, though, which is good. Jeff stayed home from work today because he said this morning that he felt worse than he did the other day, but after having a little something to eat, he felt a bit better. I’m feeling better than I did, but my throat is awfully scratchy. We’re all gonna pass around the Nyquil tonight. :) Also, an update on my mom ~ she’s doing a lot better. She’s still a bit cautious to try tackling the basement stairs (understandably!), but she’s moving around a lot more than she was before. Thank you again for all of your good wishes!

  • Awwww – the poor baby. I hope that he feels better soon!

Yesterday, I felt like it was Sunday night because I had to go to work today after being off on vacation for two weeks. It’s just been a wierd few weeks with the holidays and the timing.

    Happy New Year!

Sorry to hear that the illness bugs have moved in with you guys. I know what its like, you keep your eyes constantly on your child, willing him to get better, and every small amount of food that he takes in makes your heart leap with joy. Thinking of you!
